What a day. I’ve had two orders this week and have been completely wiped out of large tajines. And I scooped getting into a flu vaccine trial for the US market – I get paid $100 to get a perfectly normal flu jab (or not – I’ve a 1/3 chance of getting the placebo) and a further $200 for keeping a diary of how I feel. It’s what I call win-win – either I get flu shot for free or the funds to buy one. Either way, I end up with some mad-money to splurge on sinful things like Charbonnel & Walker Pink Champagne Truffles.
I’ve had a yen for these divine choccies for ages but resist mightily. A small box is very expensive but they are the most singularly delicious truffle of all time (according to me). Usually reserved for when I buy myself a birthday present, I aim to get a small box to celebrate….well…something. If anyone should wish to bribe, cajole or otherwise influence me, you can’t go past a box of these little joys.
Today was topped off by a somewhat horrifying moment when there was an almighty CRACK noise and everything went into slow motion – as a leg of the chair I was sitting in skittered across the floor and me thinking “oohhhhh nnnnoooooo”. And there was about five minutes of terror as the chair shot out from underneath me and my big fat bottom landed SPLAT on the wooden floor.
I’m sitting in a dining chair with a large cushion beneath me as we speak. May I just say…
OWW OW!

oooh lordy – how’s the botty? At least it didn’t happen in public (it was at home wasn’t it?)
Great work re: the flue shot. I’m with a couple of marketing groups and get calls to attend focus groups and the like from time-to-time. Money for jam.
Maybe you should buy the big size box of truffles to celebrate not breaking your leg or your coccyx.
You know, Rick Stein did a tagine on his show this week. I wonder if that had anything to do with your sales. Excellent however it happened. Don’t forget to let me know about the balti dishes.

Tee hee – I’m just remembering an old Addams Family episode when Morticia goes “Do you mind if I smoke?”
